The GLPA is a proud Member Association  of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations ("NFPA"). Founded in 1974, NFPA was the first national paralegal association. Created as a non-profit federation, NFPA is an issues-driven, policy-oriented professional association directed by its membership. It is comprised of more than 50 member associations and represents over 9,000 individual members reflecting a broad range of experience, education and diversity.

NFPA prides itself on the professionalism of its members and routinely monitors legislation, case law, proposed changes to the rules of responsibility and ethics opinions that affect the paralegal profession. Click here for more information.

GLPA membership includes automatic membership to NFPA.  Benefits include:

Paralegal Credentialing
  • Explore how to become a credentialed paralegal. For over a decade, NFPA has offered the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE®) to test the competency of experienced paralegals. NFPA also offers a credentialing examination geared toward early- career paralegals - the Paralegal CORE Competency (PCC®) exam. What’s behind your name? Consider adding an NFPA credential
CLEs
  • Current Continuing Legal Education webinar offerings, deeply discounted for members, are listed on the website. Attend live or purchase a recorded webinar for credit. Some CLEs from previous conferences are available for free.  You can also build your professional and personal network by volunteering to serve as a coordinator or on a committee.
  • There are some free workshops & webinars available through NFPA; NFPA Website < Members Only < Member Resources. Including the 2020 Convention Workshops and Pro Bono Webinars. Generally, NFPA will provide workshops from the previous year’s convention.  I anticipate the 2021 Annual Conference workshop will be available in the new year. If you are required to submit CLE credits to maintain certification, you are advised to confirm if they will accept these CLEs as credit.

  • NFPA members get 50% discount on other NFPA provided CLEs. Cost is generally $25.00 for members after the discount is applied. Other CLE service providers give NFPA members discounts on their CLE programs as well.

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Like the GLPA, NFPA is a volunteer run organization. There are numerous ways to get involved. Click here for more details.
Access to the Quarterly publication of the Paralegal Reporter
  • Your membership includes a subscription to NFPA’s quarterly publication, National Paralegal Reporter®, with feature articles, NFPA happenings, and profiles of local association members - like you. The Reporter is also accessible online
